During pregnancy, a woman's posture and structure are constantly changing to adapt to the growing baby. Using very gentle stretching and tension balancing techniques, osteopaths can relieve some of the musculoskeletal discomfort and help body structure to cope with demands on it.
We take a careful obstetric history to be certain that we know as much as possible about your health before osteopathic treatment. We are always happy to check new mothers after the birth and look forward to meeting the new baby!
As osteopaths we have a holistic approach to a child's health & development: we are interested in your child as a growing individual - not just the diagnosis of a condition.
We will want to know about pregnancy and before the birth, and the details of delivery and immediate post natal period. This is helpful in our understanding of what may have influenced a child’s structure and function.
Osteopaths work under the principle that there may be a number of contributing factors to the symptoms and will therefore evaluate not only the area which is producing the symptoms, but also associated areas that may be contributing to the issue: including past trauma, environmental factors and the family health history.
Osteopathic techniques are suitable for children at all stages of development: we will assess your child to see what might help.

Subsequent appointments £50 – allow 30 minutes
